Fascia and Soffit Suppliers Northern Ireland

‘Finish Your Home the Right Way’

In order to protect the interior of your home you need a strong and reliable exterior. An important element of this is your roofing system which includes fascia and soffit boards. Attached to your home, the fascias and soffits do much more than provide an appealing finish. They work together to protect the inside of your home and prolong your roof’s lifespan.

We’re one of the top fascia and soffit suppliers in Northern Ireland and can offer a wide range of fascia boards and soffit boards from you to choose to. With a large selection of colours and wood effects available, as well as uPVC products that provide superior weathering ability.

Elements of Support

Whether you simply need to upgrade your fascia or soffit, or you’re building a new home – there are a few things to consider.

To understand any problems with your roofline and why you might need to replace it, it’s good to know about all the different components. Whilst most people are familiar with the gutters and tiles, the rest can be a bit confusing. Fascias and soffits are elements of support that you’ll find around the edge of your roof.

When used together these building products can provide effective protection to your home and stop the damaging of your roofline. Fascias boards and soffit boards help prevent general wear and tear, and things like moisture entering your home’s rafters. They can also increase ventilation, restrict nesting and protect difficult to paint areas.

Fascia Vs Soffit – What’s the Difference?

Fascias and Soffits are commonly used together so they can often be mixed up or referred to as the same thing. But, these capping boards are very different components with separate uses.

What are Soffits?

Not every property or roof will have a soffit board. However, for the ones that do they are quite easy to spot. Simply put, a soffit board is an additional cover that sits along the edge of your roof. It’s tucked away under the fascia and protects the rafter by sealing it in.

The easy to install product can be ventilated to allow for air flow on the roof or ventilation can also be provided over the top of the fascia. Adequate ventilation means that these materials will be less likely to weather or decay over time.

In the past, soffits were solely constructed from wood and timber – which were prone to rotting and greatly affected the roof structure. Now, soffits can be created with a range of materials such as aluminium and uPVC versions. Not only are these materials more durable, but they are also cost effective and often come with a manufacturer’s guarantee.

What is Fascia?

Fascia boards are an essential part of any roofing system and just like soffit, they help tie everything together.  This capping board or ‘roofline’ is the long straight board which runs along the lower edge of your roof. It’s fitted directly along the rafter ends and it closes the gap between each one. This roofline product is responsible for supporting the lower edge of the bottom row of tiles and carries all the guttering.

As well as support, fascia’s dry verge system will cover yours fittings ensuring that they are kept waterproof and well protected. Additionally, the uPVC product plays a role in creating a pleasing aesthetic to your home rather than leaving your roofing exposed.

At Advanced Roofline, our fascias always offer robust, low maintenance and weather resistant support to your home.

Installation & Materials

When it comes to installation and materials uPVC fascia and soffit have a couple of differences.  As we mentioned earlier, fascia is installed around the whole of the property, beneath the gutters and roofline.  Soffit on the other hand is typically installed from the exterior wall to the fascia board. In some cases it can also be added to allow for extra ventilation for your home.

Usually you’ll find that sofitt is made of uPVC, aluminium or sometimes wood. Fascia boards can be also constructed from wood but are more commonly being made from uPVC. At Advanced Roofline we offer a range of materials with an accurate colour match to your home.

Our featured uPVC skin is calcium zinc stabilised to ensure superior weather ability and UV ray resistant. A uPVC description is used to let you know our products are of the best quality. With PVC fascias that is unplasticised, expandable and highly durable, allowing us to offer our customers a unique manufacturer’s guarantee.

Does Your Roofline Need an Upgrade?

Our home’s often face the brunt of the elements and harsh weathering, which over time may have an effect on your roofline. If it’s been a while since your fascia and soffit boards have been replaced they may be beginning to deteriorate, losing both their strength and appearance. When this happens you can choose to cap over old boards or opt for a full replacement.

Capping over fascia and soffit is a simple short-term solution, but this can lead to more problems down the line. This is because old materials like wood are likely to be rotting underneath and it’s possible that if your home was built before 1999, it may also contain some level of asbestos.

As experienced fascia and soffit suppliers, we recommend a full replacement as an effective long-term solution. We understand that this option is more expensive, but it is a worthwhile investment that will last in years to come. Complete replacement eliminates any existing problems and can prove to be much more cost-effective. Especially since many guarantees do not cover existing sub-structure.
